History:
Haymarket, Virginia is a small town located at the foothills of the Bull Run Mountain. It has a rich history dating back to the 1700’s, when it was known as the “Crossroads”. Now, Haymarket is more important to local commerce than ever. Located near the first foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, it is perfectly situated. It is indeed still at the crossroads between the breathtaking rolling hills and farms of Virginia’s “horse country” and the shopping and entertainment mecca of Manassas and Fairfax. Washington DC is less than an hour away via I-66.
Unincorporated Haymarket has a plethora of shopping, dining, and entertainment choices including well-maintained golf courses and rolling mountains. Major attractions include the Bull Run Mountain Conservancy, Silver Lake Park, The Winery at LaGrange. By far, our favorite Haymarket restaurant is Foster’s Grille – best burgers around.
The Haymarket Day festivities take place in the city’s center, located on Washington St. close to the Haymarket Police Department.
